CSKA continues to pursue acquiring the ex-Zenit footballer
Daler Kuzayev, the talented midfielder, joined French side Gavre on July 12, 2023, inking a contract that would keep him with the club until the summer of 2025. However, his future with Gavre remains uncertain, as recent reports suggest he might still transfer to Grozny's Akhmat or CSKA before the winter break.
Kuzayev's time with Gavre began after he was announced as a free agent by his previous club, Zenit St. Petersburg, on June 17. With Zenit, Kuzayev became a five-time Russian champion and won the Cup and the Super Cup. He played 13 matches in the previous season, scoring one goal.
The Russian midfielder has also represented his country, receiving call-ups to the national team and playing 46 matches, scoring two goals.
CSKA and Akhmat have shown keen interest in Kuzayev, with the talks initiated due to the collapse of Dmitry Barinov's transfer from Lokomotiv. While Kuzayev himself is not against joining CSKA, he has made it clear that he does not wish to return to Russia and is focused on performing in a foreign championship.
The source close to the situation has confirmed that Kuzayev is reportedly close to signing a contract with Akhmat. However, CSKA remains interested in Kuzayev, despite his reported refusal to join the team at the end of the summer transfer window.
Prior to joining Gavre, Kuzayev spent six years at Zenit, where he honed his skills and established himself as a key player. His impressive performances in the 2023/24 season of the French Championship, where he played 30 matches, scoring two goals and making two assists, have not gone unnoticed.
The information about the talks between CSKA and Kuzayev was reported by Championship.com. As the winter transfer window approaches, the fate of Daler Kuzayev remains uncertain, with both Akhmat and CSKA eager to secure his services.
