Cryptocurrency group allegedly reveals intention to throw sex toys during WNBA matches
In a bizarre turn of events, a Libertarian cyberpunk collective of young crypto enthusiasts known as the Green Dildo Coin group has been orchestrating a series of pranks at Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) games. The group, inspired by tech culture icon Elon Musk, has been throwing sex toys, notably green dildos, onto the court and into the stands, causing disruptions and stirring controversy.
The incidents began around late July 2025, with at least two games affected in Atlanta. One of these games involved the Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries. An 18-year-old man, Kaden Lopez, was arrested in Phoenix for throwing a sex toy at a Phoenix Mercury game, while another individual was arrested in connection with the Atlanta incident. However, Delbert Carter, who was arrested for allegedly throwing a green sex toy on the court in Atlanta, is not part of the Green Dildo Coin group.
The group's unnamed spokesman, who has reportedly orchestrated at least some of the incidents, stated that they do not dislike women's sports. Instead, their aim is to gain a voice in the cryptocurrency space and promote their memecoin, Green Dildo Coin. The group claims these pranks are a form of lighthearted protest and viral marketing, designed to create visibility for the coin. They plan to continue using high-traffic public events for maximum exposure but have promised to adopt a "lighter" and more "tasteful" approach in the future.
However, these stunts have drawn significant criticism for their disruptive nature and for creating toxicity and misogyny in the WNBA community. Observers and commentators have described the pranks as childish and harmful. Law enforcement has responded with charges against some individuals who participated in these incidents.
The WNBA, in response, is working with arena personnel to identify culprits and ensure appropriate action is taken. As of now, the group's intentions and goals beyond promoting their cryptocurrency remain unclear. The WNBA did not immediately comment on the reports of the cryptocurrency group connection.
This behaviour by the Green Dildo Coin group is a stark reminder of the need for responsible conduct, even in the pursuit of promoting a cause or product. The group's actions have not only disrupted games but also tarnished the reputation of women's sports and the cryptocurrency world. It is hoped that they will reconsider their tactics and find a more respectful way to gain visibility for their coin.
