Crypto Firms Donate HK$32M to Aid Tai Po Fire Victims

Four leading crypto firms have pledged HK$32 million to support relief efforts after the Tai Po fire. The funding will address urgent needs like temporary housing. Binance, HashKey Group, and Avenir Group each contributed HK$10 million, while KuCoin added HK$2 million. Additional donations came from Animoca Brands and Amber Group, focusing on easing the housing shortage in Tai Po. The combined funds aim to provide immediate liquidity for local responders, helping them manage logistics, equipment, and direct assistance programs more efficiently. The donations will directly fund emergency response activities in Tai Po. Local teams can now access resources faster, ensuring quicker support for affected residents. This model of rapid crypto-backed funding has already proven effective in other major disasters.
