Cruzeiro to Take a Week's Break After a Busy Month; Watch Their Return on the Pitch

In the heart of the 2025 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A season, Cruzeiro made a triumphant return to the pitch after an 11-day break, triumphing over Internacional with a 2-1 victory on August 23, 2025.

The match, played at a high tempo, saw Kaio Jorge score at the 58th minute and Matheus Pereira finding the back of the net earlier in the game. Cruzeiro's current standing in the league is strong, with 11 wins, 5 draws, and 4 losses, amassing a total of 38 points.

As the season progresses, the exact details of Cruzeiro's next match are yet to be disclosed. However, with the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A season running until December 21, 2025, it is likely that their next encounter will be scheduled soon.

The extended break was due to Cruzeiro's absence from continental competitions, allowing Head Coach Leonardo Jardim to use the time to address any errors within the squad and find solutions. Unfortunately, the absence of Lucas Romero, Christian, and Kaiki was felt, as they served their suspensions having received their third yellow cards against Santos.

Looking back, Cruzeiro's previous victory came against Gremio on July 13, marking their return to winning ways in the Brazilian Championship. The players were rewarded with two days off this week due to the break in the calendar.

Before the draw with Vitoria on June 12, Cruzeiro had enjoyed a memorable 2-1 home victory over Palmeiras on June 1. The last significant break in Cruzeiro's calendar was at the end of the Minas Gerais Championship and the beginning of the Brazilian Championship.

The last time Cruzeiro had at least a week to work was during the break for the Club World Cup. The Blue and White only returned to play on March 29, when they debuted in the Brazilian Championship against Mirassol and won 2-1.

Cruzeiro's next challenge comes against Mirassol on Monday, August 18, at 8 pm. Fans of the team will be eagerly anticipating another strong performance from the squad.
