In a tragic turn of events, the world figure skating scene is in shock following the loss of two young skaters within days in two separate accidents. Tyler Ward of the Blue Devils Weiden scored a dream goal on Friday evening, assisted by Tomas Rubes, but the joy was overshadowed by the unfortunate events.

Elsewhere in Austria, severe storms have triggered mudslides in the Pinzgau region south of Salzburg. The Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) and the local Salzburg state authorities are working tirelessly on the reconstruction of damaged infrastructure and restoring access to affected areas, particularly near Saalbach-Hinterglemm. Around 250 people are temporarily cut off from the outside world due to the mudslides.

Road maintenance workers are currently securing the remaining lane in Hinterglemm, where a road was washed away on Thursday evening, turning the valley's cul-de-sac into an isolated area. The provincial road will be closed overnight but will be opened briefly on weekends for tourist traffic.

The mudslides have predominantly affected tourists, with more than half of the stranded people being visitors to the region. Rescue services had to clear dirt and debris from the streets in Maishofen, Viehhofen, and Saalbach-Hinterglemm using heavy equipment.

Away from the natural disasters, a convicted terrorist living in Tirschenreuth since 2022 has appealed against the revocation of his deportation ban, causing concern and anger in the district town.

In a less serious incident, a driver was stopped by the police for not wearing a seatbelt, but it was later discovered he had no driver's license.

Unrelated to the events in Austria, three people have died due to shootings in Vienna, with the alleged motive being jealousy and separation.

Lastly, Tyler Ward of the Blue Devils Weiden gave a detailed explanation of his dream goal, a moment of joy amidst the sombre news. No one was injured due to the storms, but there is no immediate danger for people in the back of the valley, with the threat of lightning causing two forest fires being contained.
