In a significant bust, over 380 kilograms of marijuana and hashish were seized in East Kazakhstan, as reported by Altaynews. This operation marks the dismantling of a regional drug trafficking network operating under the radar.

The Anti-Narcotics Department of the East Kazakhstan Police received intelligence about a new drug operation masterminded by a previously convicted resident of Jambyl region. Evidence showed that he was using hidden compartments in a cargo vehicle to transport the illicit substances, intending to sell them in Ust-Kamenogorsk.

With the help of the National Security Committee, the police identified and began arresting all parties involved in this illicit operation, including dealers operating within the city.

Sagat Madiev, head of the East Kazakhstan Police Department, confirmed that "during the dismantling of this drug channel, over 380 kilograms of various narcotic substances were seized. The suspects are currently being charged under Article 297 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan."

The operation led to the arrest of a 43-year-old regional drug dealer, a 40-year-old Ust-Kamenogorsk resident involved in storing the drugs, and the supplier himself, a 50-year-old resident of Jambyl region. It is estimated that the seized drugs could fetch over 320 million tenge on the black market.
