Cross Country Runners from Hellgate Knights End Season with Impressive Showing at NXR Meet

Hellgate Knights Cross Country Team Shines at Nike Cross Regionals

The Hellgate Knights cross country team recently competed at the Nike Cross Regionals, with both the boys JV and girls teams achieving impressive results.

The boys JV team finished fourth, while the girls team clinched third place. Many runners from both teams set season or personal bests, showcasing their hard work and dedication throughout the season.

Wilson Derry, a senior varsity runner, finished tenth overall in the JV division at NXR, delivering a strong performance. His efforts helped the team, which did not qualify for the championship race but ran well in the highest division of JV, finishing sixth overall.

Freshman runners also had a strong showing in the JV race, indicating a promising future for the team.

The girls varsity team had the possibility of advancing to Nike Cross Nationals (NXN), but just missed out, finishing seventh in the championship race. However, they had a dominant season, finishing with a state title and a perfect score at the City Meet.

Despite the team's success, injuries were a challenge for the girls team during the championship race. Shin splints and hip issues affected several runners, but they persevered and showed great resilience.

Beanie Glaser, a sophomore runner for the Knights, praised the teamwork and support between the JV teams. She stated that they worked together and helped each other during the race. Glaser also emphasized the importance of maintaining the team's strong sense of camaraderie and family atmosphere, even after the departure of the seniors.

Glaser expressed appreciation for the contributions of the senior members of the team and expressed excitement for the future of the Hellgate Knights cross country team due to the high number of engaged underclassmen. She also expressed a desire to maintain the team's strong sense of camaraderie and family atmosphere in the future.

The Hellgate Knights cross country team competes at Eagle Island XC Course in Boise annually. For detailed results—including individual performances and team standings for both JV and varsity levels—you might consider checking the official Nike Cross Regionals website or their results archive, Hellgate High School’s athletics or cross country team webpage, local news outlets or sports coverage focusing on high school cross country in your area, or social media pages for the Hellgate Knights or regional cross country meets.

The Hellgate Knights could potentially consider a sports facility for hosting their meetings, such as a rented community hall, to foster camaraderie and discuss their future football matches alongside their usual cross country training.

The football team, with a diverse mix of experienced seniors and energetic freshmen, could bring a new level of excitement to the Hellgate Knights, providing another avenue for the school's athletes to showcase their hard work and team spirit.
