Watch Out! Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab Issues a Warning to Non-Indigene Lagos Residents
Criticizing Lagos State Is Inappropriate if You Chose to Migrate From Your Own Territory - Government Official's Opinion
Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources in Lagos State, has thrown a warning to non-indigenous residents of the state, cautioning them against spewing negativity towards the city.
The commissioner's remarks come in response to reported efforts by a select group of individuals who, after leaving their home states and moving to Lagos in search of a better life, have been seen tarnishing the state's image.
According to our sources, Wahab's statement was made in a public statement early Saturday morning.
He strongly emphasized that those who have found a better life in Lagos, after departing from their native lands, should show some patriotism by promoting a positive image of their adopted state.
He also issued a direct warning to social media influencers, urging them to resist using their substantial followership to discredit Lagos State.
Wahab expressed his concern over the deliberate attempts by these individuals to smear the reputation of Lagos State, stating, "It is regrettable that some who moved from their home states in pursuit of better opportunities quickly resort to disparaging the very state that has given them the platform to thrive. Leveraging social media followings, these individuals propagate harmful narratives, often aligned with divisive agendas, undermining the progress and inclusivity that Lagos represents."
He further added, "While constructive criticism is essential for growth, malicious attempts to vilify a state that empowers countless lives daily are counterproductive. Lagos remains a place of opportunity, innovation, and resilience, and it is imperative that we all uphold its integrity while fostering unity and progress."
