Criticizes Lamido Over Achievements Since Leaving PDP Governorship: Wike's Advisor Speaks Out

The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and Sule Lamido, the former Governor of Jigawa State, are embroiled in a contentious dispute within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This disagreement revolves around allegations of disloyalty and disruption within the party, particularly concerning the sealing of the PDP National Secretariat.

As reported by our publication, Lamido has accused Wike of acting against the party's interests and called for his expulsion. This follows the FCT Administration's sealing of the party's headquarters over unpaid ground rents dating back 28 years, despite repeated notices since September 2023.

In response, Wike's aide, Lere Olayinka, defended the minister, stating that he abides by the rule of law and has no tolerance for impunity. Olayinka emphasized that Wike remains diligent in enforcing FCT regulations, and he declined to engage in a public verbal exchange with Lamido.

Furthermore, Olayinka criticized Lamido's contributions to the PDP after leaving office in 2015, questioning his relevance to the party's current state. Olayinka asserted, "Nyesom Wike is not a member of Sule Lamido's society of impunity and lawlessness. Everyone must adhere to the laws when dealing with the FCT."

Olayinka also challenged Lamido's motives, suggesting that he focuses too narrowly on the PDP in Jigawa State and unsuccessfully points fingers at Wike, who, in his view, has made significant contributions to the party in other regions.

The ongoing spat within the PDP underscores lingering factional struggles and raises concerns about the party's unity and integrity. Regardless, there is no documented evidence linking Wike specifically to the sealing of the secretariat. The implications of these allegations and counter-allegations remain a focal point in the discourse surrounding the future of the PDP.
