In a shocking incident that took place on August 13, 2025, the 12-year-old son of former Malaysian Minister Rafizi Ramli was stabbed with a syringe in a shopping centre car park in Putrajaya. The boy was swiftly taken to the hospital, where initial tests revealed no drugs or poison in his blood. However, he will be closely monitored for six months to check for any delayed effects.

Rafizi believes that the attack was a warning aimed at silencing him due to his vocal political stance. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has publicly vowed a transparent and speedy investigation into the incident, condemning the violent act and emphasizing that such threats and violence have no place in Malaysia.

The authorities are treating the case seriously, with Rafizi and his family fully cooperating with the police. In fact, Rafizi’s wife also received threatening messages following the attack, suggesting further attempts to intimidate the family.

Malaysian Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has stated that the police will conduct a full and impartial investigation into the incident. The Home Ministry views the attack seriously and has made it clear that no form of violence or threats will be compromised.
