Speaking plain: The "Dirty Work" Diplomacy

Criticisms towards Merz faced a defense by the Israeli ambassador.

Berlin - Israel's Ambassador, Ron Prosor, backs German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's stance on Israel's offensive against Iran's nuclear facilities and defends Merz against his critics. Prosor shared his thoughts with the German Press Agency, stating, "Merz's words frankly represent the situation in the Middle East."

During the G7 summit in Canada, Merz was slammed by the opposition and SPD for his phrase. On ZDF, he said, "Diana Zimmermann, I appreciate your term 'dirty work.' That's the dirty work Israel is doing for us all. We are at risk from this mullah regime too. This regime of fanatics has brought death and disaster to the world."

In response to criticism about his choice of words, Prosor defends, saying, "Iran's nuclear program is a direct threat to Israel, yet it influences the entire world's security. The rockets currently striking Tel Aviv and Jerusalem pose a risk not only to us but also to Berlin, Paris, and London. We must disrupt the chain of terror."

Taking a Stand Against Iran's Nuclear Program

Prosor believes there has already been progress in this standoff. "Arms shipments to the Ukraine war have significantly slowed down. Attacks on maritime traffic between Europe and Asia by the Houthis have decreased," he said. The international community is closely watching how Europe responds to this critical issue. According to Prosor, "This is a test to see if Europeans are willing to uphold their values and interests on their own terms."

With the ongoing tensions, Germany has stepped up security measures to safeguard its citizens in Israel, Iran, and the surrounding region. The US is also considering joining Israel's military action against Iran, contingent on Iran's willingness to restart negotiations[1][2][4]. Both Merz and Prosor emphasize diplomacy as a viable option to mitigate the crisis and maintain peace in the region.

Iran's nuclear program, a significant point of discussion in war-and-conflicts and policy-and-legislation, is causing concern not only for Israel but also for Germany, as highlighted by Israel's Ambassador, Ron Prosor. Prosor, in line with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, advocates for a diplomatic approach in handling the crisis to ensure peace in the region, a stance that is likely to be closely watched by the international community, particularly in the context of politics and general news.
