Criticisms leveled by Harald Schmidt towards NDR following the dismissal of Julia Ruhs from Klar-Send

In a surprising turn of events, former late-night host Harald Schmidt has criticised the decision of the Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) to no longer work with journalist Julia Ruhs. The announcement by NDR not to use Ruhs as a moderator has been made in relation to the format 'Klar.'

Ruhs, a native of Baden-Württemberg and the author of the book 'Left-green opinion power - The division of our country,' hosted episodes of the format 'Klar,' which discusses socially controversial topics, for NDR and Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR). The premiere episode of 'Klar' on the topic of migration attracted attention due to Ruhs' report on violence in connection with immigration.

However, the decision by NDR does not affect Ruhs' role in episodes produced by the BR. Despite this, she will no longer be a part of the moderation team for shows produced by NDR. The announcement was made by both NDR and BR on Tuesday.

Schmidt, in a statement made to the 'Tagesspiegel' (Friday edition), compared the situation at NDR with the cancellation of the US late-night show 'Jimmy Kimmel Live.' Jimmy Kimmel had accused the MAGA movement of US President Donald Trump of exploiting the murder of right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk for political gain in his Monday and Tuesday shows. Schmidt did not elaborate on why he believes the cancellation of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' is relevant to the situation at NDR.

Schmidt stated that NDR is 'cleaning up their own mess,' without specifying the nature of the mess. He did not elaborate on the reasons for his belief either.

Harald Schmidt's comments come in response to the decision of NDR to no longer work with Ruhs. It remains to be seen how this development will impact Ruhs' career and the future of the 'Klar' format at NDR.
