In the realm of European football, a heated debate has arisen over the financial practices of the English Premier League (EPL). Javier Tebas, the President of Liga MX, has been vocal in his criticism of the EPL's financial model.

Tebas asserts that the spending habits of EPL clubs are causing inflationary pressure on the entire European transfer market. This assertion comes as the EPL currently leads in broadcasting activity compared to Liga MX and the Bundesliga, largely due to its top position in UEFA rankings and strong marketing and investor revenues. These factors allow for multi-billion euro expenditures on players, putting pressure on other leagues to compete financially.

Liga MX ranks third in this financial race, with Real Madrid and Barcelona as standout clubs. The Bundesliga ranks fourth, but has recently experienced a shift in dominance from Bayern Munich to Bayer Leverkusen.

Tebas believes the EPL's financial model to be unsustainable and detrimental to European football. He points out that despite showing high turnover, the EPL continues to operate at a constant deficit due to its substantial financial resources. This, he argues, is unsustainable in the long run and could lead to financial instability within the EPL and beyond.

As the debate continues, Tebas' criticisms serve as a call to reevaluate the financial practices within European football. Whether his concerns will lead to significant changes remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the financial dynamics of European football are under scrutiny like never before.
