Criticism Levied Against Utomi: APC Accuses Him of Rash and Inappropriate Comparison Between Tinubu's Administration and Hitler's Regime

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has slammed prominent economist, Pat Utomi, for making the audacious comparison of President Bola Tinubu to Adolf Hitler. In a bold statement signed by National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the ruling party expressed its disdain for such a comparison.

Morka called the comparison "reckless, irresponsible, and insensitive," and went on to say that it was far below Utomi's intellectual stature. He argued that the freedom granted to Utomi to announce a shadow government without any consequences underscores the government's tolerance for opposition voices.

Morka highlighted the fact that Utomi enjoys his full constitutional rights to think, speak, and act as he wants, all while enjoying the benefits of democratic choice freely and without any restraints. He also emphasized that Utomi is known for his unfettered intellectual aggression, which is evident in his numerous attempts at forming mega parties, coalitions, and tents.

The APC accused Utomi of baselessly claiming that Tinubu's administration is suppressing opposing views, which is preposterous given that Utomi himself was able to make a unilateral declaration of a shadow government in a presidential democracy. This, according to the APC, was an exercise of democratic freedom and free speech.

However, the APC found Utomi's equating Nigeria's democratic experience to fascist conditions in Hitler's Nazi Germany to be "desperately dramatic, reckless, and unbecoming of a man of Utomi's standing."

The APC did not hold back in mocking Utomi, suggesting that his constant failures in winning elections have disillusioned him and led him to make such outrageous comparisons. They pointed out his failed bid for the APC gubernatorial ticket in 2019, his role in Peter Obi's 2023 presidential campaign, and his numerous failed attempts at forming a third-force mega opposition.

The APC also tackled Utomi's stance on fuel subsidy removal, stating that both Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, like Tinubu, had campaigned to end the system. They accused Utomi of exploiting and dramatizing the initial difficulties associated with the policies for "political sensationalism" and "desperation."

Lastly, the APC asserted that it was not their responsibility to help the opposition manage their internal crises.
