Füchse Berlin Shake-Up: A New Era with the 'Danish News'

The German handball club Füchse Berlin is set for significant changes, with reports of a planned 'Danish news' taking shape. According to sources, the new coach will be Nicolej Krickau, a world handball player, alongside potential additions of Mathias Gidsel and Simon Pytlick.

The personnel changes at Füchse Berlin have been met with criticism from former players. Michael 'Mimi' Kraus, a world champion in 2007, questioned the timing of the shake-up, as it comes just two months after the club's most successful season in their history. Kraus expressed concern about the team's ability to make it into the top four, given the upheaval.

Christian Schwarzer, Kraus' teammate in 2007, shared similar sentiments, stating that the word 'loyalty' seems to be fading in handball at Füchse Berlin. Schwarzer suggested that a decision like this would not be possible in other clubs.

The changes at Füchse Berlin were prompted by the dismissal of sports director Kretzschmar and champion coach Jaron Siewert. The club's new hire, Krickau, is part of the proposed 'Danish news', which also includes Gidsel. The Füchse Berlin are also reportedly interested in 2016 world champion Simon Pytlick from SG Flensburg-Handewitt.

Kraus, however, questioned the necessity of such drastic changes. He stated that dismantling the team after the season start is reckless. Kraus also questioned the plan behind the personnel changes, suggesting that there might be a hidden agenda.

The club's new coach, Krickau, has not yet made a public statement regarding the proposed 'Danish news'. It remains to be seen how these changes will impact the team's performance in the upcoming season.

The Füchse Berlin's most recent success saw them win the league championship for the first time and lose the Champions League final. With the new season approaching, fans and critics alike will be watching closely to see how the club navigates these changes and whether the 'Danish news' will be the key to continued success.
