Critical Articles on American Politics Disseminated by Pope Leo XIV

Title: Pope Leo XIV's Critique of US Politics

In a bold move, our new Pope Leo XIV, previously known as US Cardinal Robert Prevost, didn't hesitate to voice his opinions on US politics. Before the big day, he shared some critical articles on his online service that targeted none other than President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.

One post, dated February 3, read, "JD Vance is mistaken: Jesus doesn't ask us to prioritize our love for others." This comment was in response to an article in the "National Catholic Reporter." It seems our new Holy Father wasn't impressed by Vance's justification of Washington's harsh cuts to foreign aid, using Catholic teachings to do so.

Just a few days later, Prevost shared a post criticizing the US government's erroneous deportation of a migrant to El Salvador. Apparently, he wasn't shy about voicing his concerns about the country's immigration policies.

Fun Fact: It's worth noting that Vance, a convert to Catholicism in 2019, argued that Christians should love their families first before caring for the rest of the world, citing a quote from Thomas Aquinas. However, the new Pope's stance might take a more inclusive approach to these issues.

After his election, neither Trump nor Vance mentioned the shared posts. Vance, who met the late Pope Francis just hours before his death on Easter Sunday, expressed his condolences online, writing, "May God bless him!"

Trump, on the other hand, viewed the election of an American as "a great honor." He looked forward to meeting the new Pope, saying, "That will be a very significant moment."

It's unclear how these past views and actions will shape Pope Leo XIV's future decisions, but one thing's for sure—he's not afraid to speak his mind.
