Musk Takes a Stand: Slamming Trump's Tax Law as a "Disgrace"
Bold and Unabashed: The Unapologetic Display of Confidence or Audacious Activity - Critical and vulgar critiques: Musk denounces Trump's tax policy harshly
Let's get down to business: Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, ain't got no mercy for Trump's tax law. Musk calls this budget bill a "disgrace" and "stuffed with pork," using American slang to refer to voter gifts. L se líve, those who voted for it should be "ashamed," he says, calling out the House of Representatives for passing the dubious draft. "You know you've done wrong," Musk declares.
This legislation has been at the center of Musk's attention since the end of May, when he expressed initial disappointment over the draft. He pointed out that it would inflate the US national debt, undermining what he'd been working to achieve – saving Trump boatloads of cash by cutting bureaucracy. A day later, Musk pulled the plug on his advisory position.
Musk's latest criticism comes as a response to the law's burdening citizens with "crushing, unbearable debts." Trump officially named his bill the "Big Beautiful Bill," and he's been pushing the Senate to pass it despite concerns within the Republican party by early July.
The proposed tax bill consists of an extension of the massive tax cuts from Trump's first term (2017-2021), which would otherwise expire at year's end. To balance the books, they're looking to slash the healthcare program Medicaid, which primarily covers low-income and older individuals. This misaligned law could increase the federal budget deficit by up to $3 trillion (€2.64 billion) over the next ten years, according to experts.
White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt shrugged off Musk's criticism, stating that it wouldn't affect Trump's support for the planned law. "The president knows Elon Musk's stance on this law," she explained. Trump is adamant – he stands by his "big, beautiful law."
The speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, called Musk's remarks "disappointing." In a 20-minute phone call on Monday, he explained the bill draft to his close associate and felt Musk "understood" it.
With Trump's advisory role, Musk was a constant presence: from the White House, on Air Force One, to Trump's Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago. Musk even brought his young son into the Oval Office. By the end of May, the billionaire announced his departure from the US government, but he emphasized that he would continue to support Trump. As a parting gift, Trump gave Musk a golden key.
The bill Musk is criticizing is a far cry from the savings he was aiming for: according to reports, only a tiny fraction of the targeted two trillion dollars was saved, despite tens of thousands losing their jobs due to drastic cuts in the government. Currently, Musk is more focused on reviving his companies, including Tesla and SpaceX, which have been grappling with significant revenue losses and setbacks lately.

In light of the contentious tax law, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has publicly criticized US President Donald Trump for what he deems a "disgraceful" and "disgusting" budget bill. Despite being a former advisor to Trump, Musk has openly advocated against the law, especially its potential to burden US citizens with excessive debt and target programs such as Medicaid. His stance continues to draw attention from the US Senate and politics, as the bill's passage remains a hot topic in general news and policy-and-legislation discussions.
