Crisis mode implemented in a Russian region following drone assault
Early Sunday morning, August 10, the Russian region of Rostov Oblast was targeted in an aerial attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The incident occurred in Millerovo District, a region in Rostov Oblast, and resulted in damage to several private homes due to falling debris from the UAVs.
The state of emergency was declared in Millerovo District due to this incident. Oleg Kovalenko, the head of the district administration, made the announcement via his Telegram channel. Yuri Slyusar, the regional governor of Rostov Oblast, also confirmed the incident.
This attack on Rostov Oblast follows previous UAV attacks on the Millerovo military airfield in Millerovo District, which have been ongoing since 2024. The most recent significant attacks were reported on July 21-22, 2025, and again in August 2025.
In response to the attacks, air defense systems were actively deployed to intercept and destroy the UAVs in both Millerovo and Chertkovsky districts. Despite these defenses, some property damage from drone debris or crashes has occurred, but so far no civilian casualties have been officially confirmed.
The Russian Defense Ministry regularly announces the interception and destruction of drones to reassure the public and maintain control over the situation. Local authorities, like Governor Slyusar, also provide quick public reporting and damage assessment efforts to keep the public informed.
