Crime authors require authentic screenplays, according to Sabine Postel.

In the ever-evolving world of television, one genre that continues to captivate audiences is the crime drama. Recently, there have been changes in the cast of popular crime series, requiring viewers to adjust and follow the new stories. One such series that has managed to maintain its popularity is "Die Kanzlei".

"Die Kanzlei", a spin-off of the 2005 series "Der Dicke", is currently in its eighth season. The series, authored by Thorsten Näter, has been a consistent success since its inception, with Näter's stories thoroughly researched and not far-fetched, providing a huge freedom to tackle current cases.

The series' lead, Herbert Knaup, plays Markus Gerlach, a successor to the character Gregor Ehrenberg from the 2005 series, who was portrayed by the late Dieter Pfaff. Sabine Postel, who played commissioner Hanna Kramer in "Tatort" and starred in "Die Kanzlei", has been a constant presence in the series since its debut.

Postel, who is critically opposed to the ongoing crime boom, believes that the genre still offers the opportunity to tell everything that moves and defines society. However, she also sees a certain trivialization and an increasing lack of interest from viewers in the crime genre. Despite this, "Die Kanzlei" set a viewer record in March 2023 with an average market share of 18.7 percent.

Postel attributes the series' popularity to Näter's authorship. Known as a German author and journalist, Näter is described as socially engaged, often picking up cases from newspapers for his scripts. The artist emphasizes the need to utilize the freedom offered by the crime format.

In "Die Kanzlei", the refugee issue was addressed, reflecting Näter's social engagement. The series is currently producing a second standalone film, titled "Weites Land".

As the industry sees many crime couples dissolving, "Die Kanzlei" continues to thrive, setting an example of consistent quality and social relevance. The second standalone film, "Weites Land," is expected to air around the turn of the year 2025/26.

For more authoritative detail about Thorsten Näter and his role with "Die Kanzlei", official sources such as production company releases, broadcaster websites (ZDF for "Die Kanzlei"), or literary databases may provide reliable biographical and professional information.

"Die Kanzlei" might offer an interesting expansion of its services, considering its success in both entertainment and addressing contemporary social issues. The upcoming standalone film, "Weites Land," could potentially showcase the talents of celebrities like Sabine Postel and Herbert Knaup while continuing to explore the genre's potential for tackling society's defining issues.
