Aimee Maguire Cleared to Bowl Again in International Cricket

Aimee Maguire, the young Irish spin bowler, has been given the green light by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to return to bowling in international competitions. After undergoing a remedial work and a bowling action reassessment, Maguire's elbow extension was found to be within the permitted 15-degree tolerance level under ICC Illegal Bowling Regulations.

The suspension, which was enforced in February 2023 due to concerns about her bowling action during a one-day international match against India, had significantly impacted Maguire's confidence. However, she has since made substantial progress and her remodelled bowling action has been deemed legal once again.

Maguire underwent her technical evaluation at an ICC-accredited facility in Loughborough, England, on January 21. The independent assessment concluded that her amount of elbow extension was within the 15-degree level.

Ireland's captain, Gaby Lewis, has expressed confidence in Maguire's ability to reintegrate into the squad seamlessly. Although Maguire had not immediately rejoined the Ireland squad for their T20I series against Pakistan in August 2025, she is expected to make her international comeback later in the year during a white-ball tour of South Africa.

Since making her international debut in 2023, Maguire has earned 20 caps for Ireland and accumulated 25 wickets across various formats. The current squad for Ireland includes:

  • Gaby Lewis (captain)
  • Laura Delany (vice-captain)
  • Mary Waldron (wicket-keeper)
  • Celeste Raack
  • Shauna Kavanagh
  • Arlene Kelly
  • Orla Prendergast
  • Cara Murray
  • Lara Maritz
  • Leah Paul
  • Rebecca Stokell
  • Hannah Little
  • Amy Kenealy
  • Eimear Richardson
  • Lara McSweeney
  • Sophie MacMahon
  • Jane Maguire
  • Una Raymond-Hoey
  • Gaby Lewis

The following games are scheduled for the Ireland Women's team:
