Crew member apprehended for allegedly murdering Guardia Civil officers
Four Suspects Connected to Tragic Narcolancha Incident, Now All Arrested
The nail-biting operations have come to an end, as the last of the four suspects involved in the horrific narcolancha incident in Cádiz - which claimed the lives of two civil guard agents last year - has been apprehended.
Karim El Baqqali, the pilot of the drug-laden vessel, was brought into custody this Sunday after hiding in Morocco for several months, according to La Vanguardia. The 32-year-old Moroccan national initially claimed that he did not intend to kill the agents when he rammed the narcomini-laden vessel into their patrol vessel on February 9th of 2024.
El Baqqali was charged with two counts of homicide, four attempted homicides, six counts of assaulting police officers, smuggling, and participation in a criminal organization. In addition to El Baqqali, Mohamed Laachiri and Yassine El Morabet, two other crew members, were arrested in November.
Both of these suspects maintained they did not expect the civil guard vessel to be rammed and, had they known, would have assisted the agents instead. The circumstances of this nautical face-off led to the demise of two heroic officers, while their fellow agents faced grave injuries.
The tragic events of 2024 highlight the escalating threat of crime syndicates and the dangerous lengths these criminal networks will go to protect their évoluciones. Stirring up empathy for the victims and the families affected, let us never forget the tragic lives that were embroiled in this merciless cycle of violence.
