Crew and Actors of Skeleton Crew Discuss the Creativity Behind Compelling Star Wars Monikers

In the vast expanse of the Star Wars galaxy, a new live-action streaming series is set to captivate audiences. Titled Skeleton Crew, this upcoming show promises an exciting journey, with renowned director Dave Filoni leading the creator team.

The series stars Jude Law as Jod Na Nawood, while Nick Frost lends his voice to SM-33, a droid character. The ensemble cast also includes characters named Wim, Neel, Fern, and KB, played by Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Robert Timothy Smith, a newcomer, and an undisclosed actor respectively.

The naming process for these characters was a creative challenge for the co-creators, Jon Watts and Christopher Ford. They sought names that were both earthy and plausible, yet rolled off the tongue easily, and fitting within the existing Star Wars lexicon. Wim, in particular, took a considerable amount of thought.

Ravi Cabot-Conyers, who portrays Wim, often refers to his character as a 'news' on the show, a nod to young Anakin Skywalker's favourite descriptor. This use of the term was both approved and discouraged by the show's creators, depending on the situation.

The series also features Brutus the Shistavanen pirate captain, glimpsed in trailers, and SM-33, a droid character played by Nick Frost. Learning the new terminology on the show was described as funny by Ravi Cabot-Conyers.

As for future releases in the Marvel, Star Wars, Star Trek, DC Universe, or Doctor Who universes, no specific details were provided in the article. What we do know is that Skeleton Crew will begin streaming on Disney+ on December 3.

Creating new names for the series is seen as a form of micro-poetry by the co-creators, adding another layer of intrigue to this exciting new 'character ai'.
