In a groundbreaking new Elseworlds series, DC Comics is set to release "Immortal Legend Batman." This six-issue sci-fi epic reimagines Batman as a cosmic Tokusatsu-style hero, exploring humanity's final frontier in space.

The storyline, penned by Kyle Higgins and Dan Mora, finds Gotham transformed into a planet ruled by cosmic forces. Batman, now wielding cosmic energy bridging our universe and a shadow universe, has become a powerful immortal warrior. He spends his days hunting monsters born from these shadows, a rogues gallery far removed from the traditional Gotham villains.

The series, with its blend of sci-fi, western elements, and tokusatsu motifs, offers a fresh reimagining of the Dark Knight's mythos. The narrative unfolds with a man crash-landing on a desolate alien landscape, pursued and caught by Batman in a Power Rangers-inspired tokusatsu suit. The man is questioned about the whereabouts of Bruce Wayne, implying an intriguing mystery surrounding Batman's identity and legend.

The Immortal Legends, a three-person team consisting of Batman, Robin, and Nightwing, have figured out how to manipulate dark matter to turn into superheroes. However, their tampering has resulted in the creation of soulless monsters called "Shadows" that terrorize newly colonized worlds.

The visual and thematic style of "Immortal Legend Batman" is heavily influenced by Tokusatsu, a Japanese genre featuring superhero costumes and effects. Igor Monti and Becca Carey, the colorist and letterer respectively, bring their unique touches to the series.

Mat Groom, one of the writers, discusses exploring Batman's qualities in a new way. He states, "We wanted to find a way to take everything that's so great about Batman—his immense determination, resilience, and selflessness—and explore it in a totally new way." Groom and Erica D'Urso, the writer/artist duo behind "Radiant's" sister series "Inferno Girl Red," are also involved in this project.

The team behind "Immortal Legend Batman" is excited to bring their love for the toku genre to a unique version of Gotham and these characters. Having worked together on Power Rangers, they are eager to delve into this cosmic, Japanese tokusatsu-flavored, sci-fi/western Elseworlds epic. The project, years in the making since Higgins and Groom saw Mora's rad tokusatsu redesigns for the characters in 2020, is set centuries into the future where humanity has mastered interstellar space travel and created a galactic empire.

"Immortal Legend Batman" promises to be a thrilling adventure, reinventing the Dark Knight as a powerful immortal monster hunter in a sprawling futuristic Gotham planet. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new series!
