Creative Expressions in Altea: Exploring Poetry and Music Scene
The 14th edition of the Poetic-Musical Nights at Ítaca in Altea, Spain, is set to begin on Sunday, August 3. This exciting event promises an enchanting blend of music and poetry, featuring a diverse lineup of talented performers.
The Costa Blanca Quartet, consisting of violinists Raisa and Renata Ulumbekova, violist Alberto Castillo, and cellist Yolanda Bueso, will take centre stage at the opening concert. Joining them will be guitarist Vicent Ballester.
Yolanda Bueso, a cellist from Castellón, has performed with numerous orchestras and currently teaches cello in Onda. Alberto Castillo, a Chilean violist, has played with orchestras across Europe and is a frequent guest with the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana and ADDA Simfònica. Renata Ulumbekova, a member of ADDA Simfònica, joined the ADDA orchestra in 2022 after performing with ensembles such as the Baltic Youth Philharmonic and Covent Garden soloists.
On Saturday, August 10, guitar duo Hugo Moltó & Irene Sala will perform works by Spanish and Latin American composers. The series concludes on Saturday, August 17 with Túmbate Jazz, a group that performs a blend of Latin jazz, bolero, Brazilian music, and fusion. Eva Olivencia, Germán Olivencia, Carlos Carbonell, and Josep Pastor make up Túmbate Jazz.
All proceeds from the sale of Ballester's CDs and Droogenbroodt's books will support victims in Gaza through Médecins Sans Frontières.
