Yesterday afternoon, a collision between a police vehicle and a Kia occurred in the district of Wilmersdorf. The incident took place as the police vehicle was en route to an armed robbery alarm.

According to reports, the collision happened when the 41-year-old man driving the Kia attempted to turn left onto Wittelsbacher Street. At the time, the police vehicle, using special and right-of-way privileges, was navigating the heavy traffic on Konstanzer Street towards Olivaer Platz by using the lane for oncoming traffic.

As a result of the collision, the Kia was pushed onto the sidewalk and struck a bollard. The 41-year-old driver of the Kia had to be extricated from the car and was taken to a hospital with bone fractures.

The collision also resulted in severe injuries for the police officer seated in the back of the police vehicle. The officer sustained torso and arm injuries and was airlifted to a clinic for inpatient treatment.

Four injuries were reported in total as a result of the collision, with no other vehicles involved. It is worth noting that there were no indications of alcohol intoxication in the Kia driver.

The Traffic Investigation Service of Police Directorate 4 (South) is currently investigating the collision between the police vehicle and the Kia in Wilmersdorf. Their findings will provide a clearer understanding of the circumstances leading up to the incident.
