Cranger surpasses 4-million viewer milestone.
Cranger Kirmes 2025: A Successful and Safe Festival, Despite Minor Incidents
The Cranger Kirmes 2025, held from August 6th to 16th, was a resounding success, with over four million visitors expected to have attended. The event saw a smooth running of all processes, as praised by Kirmes CEO Eduard Belker, and a cooperative effort from all parties involved, according to Kirmes Director Frank Burbulla.
However, the festival was not without its minor incidents. On Thursday, a bird managed to get into a control panel, potentially causing a short circuit and power outage. Fortunately, the issue was quickly resolved, and the event continued without interruption.
On Sunday, around 6:50 PM, a minor incident occurred involving a man being hit by a loose gondola cover from the "Predator" ride. The area was cordoned off for evidence collection, and the injured man was taken to the hospital for further treatment. The incident did not deter visitors, as the closing fireworks display went ahead as planned.
Another incident occurred in the festival tent on Friday night, when a man was struck in the face with a glass. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear, but it did not seem to have a significant impact on the overall safety of the event.
Despite these minor incidents, the priority given to visitor safety was evident. Kirmes Director Frank Burbulla emphasized this point, looking back on the earlier incident on Thursday. Albert Ritter, President of the German Showmen's Association (DSB), also confirmed the priority given to safety and understood temporary closures of businesses if necessary.
Benedikt Harting, duty officer of the German Red Cross (DRK), reported low deployment numbers at Cranger Kirmes 2025. This is a testament to the successful efforts of the organizers in maintaining a safe and secure environment for visitors.
In terms of catering, the Karaoke Beer Garden was identified as a standout success. The first police chief commissioner reported low numbers in traffic around the festival site, with 14 traffic accidents, all minor or fender benders. The fire department only had to extinguish a burning clothing container in the vicinity of the Kirmes on Friday night.
Looking ahead, the Cranger Kirmes 2026 is scheduled to take place from August 6th to 16th, with the official opening planned for Friday, August 7th. As for the incidents at Cranger Kirmes 2025, no verified information can be offered about their investigation status as of August 20, 2025. Official updates from Cranger Kirmes organizers or local news outlets would be the appropriate sources to monitor for accurate information.
