CPL 2025 Leadership: Which Team Captains in the Caribbean Premier League?
The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 is just around the corner, with the tournament set to begin on August 14. Six countries in the Caribbean will host the event: Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, St Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Trinidad & Tobago.
While the captain(s) for the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons have yet to be confirmed, Jason Holder has been appointed as the new captain for the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. This marks his leadership role after ending a long association with the Barbados Royals. Kieron Pollard, on the other hand, will continue as the captain of the Trinbago Knight Riders, who ended as runners-up in 2023 and finished third in the league stage last season before being eliminated by the Barbados Royals in the Eliminator.
The tournament will consist of 30 league matches running from August 14 to September 14, 2025. The Eliminator will take place on September 16, 2025, between the third and fourth-placed teams. The top two teams will advance to Qualifier 1, scheduled for September 17, 2025. The winner of Qualifier 1 will advance to the final, while the loser will get another chance in Qualifier 2, which will take place on September 19, 2025. The final of the CPL 2025 will take place on September 21, 2025.
Elsewhere, Rovman Powell, the captain of the team since 2023, led his team to a playoff spot last season after finishing fifth initially. David Wiese is the captain of the St Lucia Kings for the CPL 2025, replacing Faf du Plessis who initially chose to play in The Hundred but later withdrew due to groin surgery.
Imran Tahir, at 46 years old, continues to excel in the CPL. He led the Guyana Amazon Warriors to their first title in 2023 and finished as runners-up the following year. In the 2023 CPL, Imran Tahir was the third-highest wicket-taker in the World Championship of Legends.
