Los Angeles Rams Preseason Opener: Blake Corum Shines as Emerging Running Back

The Los Angeles Rams kicked off their 2025 preseason with a victory against the Dallas Cowboys, with a standout performance from second-year running back Blake Corum.

Corum, a former Michigan star, showcased his potential as a productive NFL starter, rushing for 32 yards and scoring two touchdowns on nine carries. His impressive performance has positioned him securely on the depth chart, alongside Kyren Williams, the Rams’ incumbent starter who recently signed a significant contract extension.

In the game, Williams delivered a strong showing, making 16 of 24 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns. Rookie Jarquez Hunter also impressed, rushing for 41 yards in 11 carries.

Defensively, Chris 'Pooh' Paul, a fifth-round draft pick from Mississippi, started and called defensive signals for the Rams. Paul made five tackles during the game, while Shaun Dolac, an undrafted free agent from Buffalo, started at linebacker and made six tackles.

Joshua Karty, a second-year pro, kicked a 37-yard field goal and made four extra-point attempts. Ethan Evans punted twice, with one kick traveling 81 yards.

The Rams' offense was boosted by the contributions of Cody Schrader, who rushed for 59 yards in five carries and caught a touchdown pass.

Stetson Bennett, who will start next Saturday against the Chargers, completed a fourth-down pass and delivered a rushing first down during the game.

The Rams are hopeful that Matthew Stafford will return from injury soon, as he continues to battle back from an aggravated disc in his back. Gary Klein, who follows the Los Angeles Rams, will no doubt be keeping a close eye on the team's progress.

In the end, the Rams emerged victorious, defeating the Dallas Cowboys 31-21 in their preseason opener. Troy Reeder, Nate Landman, and Omar Speights helped Chris 'Pooh' Paul prepare for the game, setting the stage for a promising season ahead.
