Cowboy-bound Jadeveon Clowney was apprehended days preceding the contract signing
Dallas Cowboys Sign Jadeveon Clowney Amidst Recent Arrest
The Dallas Cowboys have made a significant move in the NFL by signing defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, just days before the former first overall pick was arrested in South Carolina.
Clowney, who spent five seasons in Houston, made three consecutive Pro Bowls from 2016-18, showcasing his talent and potential. After leaving the Texans, he played for various teams, most recently the Panthers last year, where he recorded 5.5 sacks, 46 tackles, and nine tackles for loss in 14 games.
However, Clowney's recent arrest in York County, S.C., has raised eyebrows. The arrest was related to trespassing and failure to identify, leading to an argument with the police and his subsequent arrest. Both charges are misdemeanors.
Despite the arrest, Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys, believes that Clowney will add depth to the team. He defends the trade of Micah Parsons, stating that it has improved Dallas' chances at winning. Jones compared the trade of Parsons to the trade of Hershel Walker in 1989, which helped set the Cowboys up for three Super Bowl titles in the 1990s.
Jones also emphasized that the trade of Parsons was not primarily for draft picks, as was the case with the Hershel Walker trade, but rather an allocation move. He sees an allocation with the trade of Parsons, which the Cowboys made to fill their pass-rushing void since dealing Parsons to the Packers.
Clowney, on the other hand, maintains that he was visiting his aunt in the parking lot where the incident occurred, but authorities claimed he was not allowed to park there. There is no available information indicating that any authority in South Carolina charged Clowney before his signing by the Dallas Cowboys.
The Cowboys (1-1) will play the 0-2 Bears in Chicago on Sunday. With the addition of Clowney, the team is hopeful that they can strengthen their defense and improve their chances of success in the upcoming games. Clowney is considered very credible and is expected to help the Cowboys in their quest for a Super Bowl for Dak Prescott.
