Courtroom Drama Continues: Cast Revealed for Season 2 of Presumed Innocent, with Latest Updates on the Thrilling Series
Apple TV Plus is set to release the second season of its legal drama series, "Presumed Innocent". Created by David E. Kelley, the show is set to depart from the original 1987 Scott Turow novel that shaped its first season, and instead, draw inspiration from Jo Murray's upcoming novel, "Dissection of a Murder".
The new season promises a fresh high-stakes courtroom drama, with rookie lawyer Leila Reynolds defending Jack Millman, a prime suspect in the murder of a well-known judge. The plot unfolds as Leila takes on a case that is beyond her expertise, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the story.
Rachel Brosnahan, known for her Emmy-winning role in "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" and as Lois Lane in the new "Superman" movie, will play the role of Leila Reynolds. Jack Reynor, who starred in "Midsommar", has been cast as Jack Millman, the accused suspect in the murder case.
The second season adopts an anthology format, with no crossover from the first season's story or cast. The show moves away from Jake Gyllenhaal's lead role, focusing instead on this new legal thriller narrative.
Jack Millman insists on having Leila Reynolds as his lawyer, adding a personal touch to the case. Unfortunately, a trailer for the second season has not been released yet, as filming is expected to start in fall 2025.
The release date for "Dissection of a Murder", the novel on which the new season is based, is expected to be in 2026, making a 2026 premiere for "Presumed Innocent" season 2 seem likely. The series is based on a book of the same name by Scott Turow, and a movie adaptation of the book was released in 1990.
Scott Turow also wrote a sequel to the book in 2010, but it remains unclear whether the second season will draw from this sequel or stick to the original plot. Regardless, fans of legal dramas are eagerly awaiting the return of "Presumed Innocent" on Apple TV Plus.
