The indictment seeks maximum sentences of 1,998 years each for 11 primary defendants on charges of "possible intentional killing" and "possible intentional injury." The other 19 defendants face up to 22½ years for negligent death or injury. The prosecutors are also seeking sentences of up to 1,998 years for these defendants on individual counts related to the 78 fatalities.
Victims' families have alleged numerous breaches of safety regulations and attempts to conceal evidence.
