In Neubrandenburg's regional court, four men are set to face trial starting from Friday, accused of attempted manslaughter and causing dangerous bodily harm. The alleged assault took place in Malchin, Germany, in February.
The 27-year-old defendant is said to have struck one of the victims, a 43-year-old man, forcefully on the head with a baseball bat, while the 26-year-old defendant is accused of joining in the attack, continuing to strike the victim even after he had fallen to the ground.
The victims of the assault were two men, aged 37 and 43. The suspects are alleged to have struck them suddenly and repeatedly with a baseball bat and their fists.
The 27- and 26-year-old defendants have been in custody since late February and early March, respectively. The warrants for the other two defendants, aged 24 and 42, were reportedly suspended.
The trial, which is scheduled to last for eight more trial dates until mid-October, follows a physical assault that is alleged to have been an attempt at manslaughter. The men are charged with attempted manslaughter and dangerous bodily harm.
