Los Angeles, CA - Update on Wife of Weezer Band Member's Alleged Shooting Incident

In a recent turn of events, the Los Angeles District Attorney's office hasn't pressed charges against the spouse of a Weezer band member during her court appearance on Monday or Tuesday (sources vary slightly on the date). Jillian Shriner, the woman in question, found herself embroiled in a tense standoff with police on April 8.

The incident unfolded as LAPD officers were investigating a car crash in Eagle Rock. Shriner, who reportedly emerged from her residence armed with a handgun, was accused of firing at the police officers in question.

However, a Deputy District Attorney informed the judge that LAPD investigators haven't yet presented all the evidence they've obtained. Consequently, the prosecution is yet to decide on potential charges.

Body-worn camera footage, released by law enforcement last week, showcases the heated exchange between Shriner and the officers. The video reveals the officers repeatedly ordering Shriner to drop her weapon before she reportedly aimed and fired a shot. In response, two LAPD officers returned fire, wounding Shriner in the shoulder.

Post-hospitalization, Shriner was arrested on suspicion of attempting to kill the police officers. After posting a $1 million bond, Shriner regained her freedom.

Several law enforcement sources privy to the investigation have said that while the LAPD has forwarded its evidence to the DA's office, prosecutors are still waiting on the California Highway Patrol, who also had officers present at the shooting scene.

Shriner’s defense attorney has yet to comment on the ongoing situation.
