Court Grants Release on Bail to Actor Ashish Kapoor over Alleged Rape Charges; Actor Confides in His Trust in Justice System
In a recent development, actor Ashish Kapoor, known for his role in 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai', was granted bail by the Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Bhupinder Singh of Delhi's Tis Hazari Court on September 10, 2021.
The bail was granted on the condition that Kapoor would cooperate with the investigation and not influence the witnesses. The bail bond and surety bond were set at Rs 1 lakh each.
The allegations against Kapoor stem from a house party in Delhi last month, where he was arrested on September 2 in Pune, Maharashtra. The complaint was filed after Kapoor and the plaintiff were observed entering a washroom together and not coming out for a long time, as confirmed by CCTV footage and witness accounts.
Following his arrest, Kapoor was remanded to 14 days of judicial custody after police interrogation on September 6. However, on September 10, the court decided to grant bail based on the submissions of counsel, material on record, and the fact that Kapoor is not required for further investigation.
Expressing relief and gratitude following his bail, Kapoor wrote on his Instagram handle that the recent incident was a powerful reminder of the strength of India's democracy and the principles enshrined in its constitution.
