Strange Stuff in Courthouses: A Breakdown of the Bizarre

Object Found in Airport Security: Dildo Mistaken for Homemade Bomb, Bottle, and Possible Saw - Court Discoveries: Dildo, Dildo, Saw - Each Item Unearthed

Wanna know what's been poppin' up at German courthouses? A whopping 3,000 questionable items were caught during security screenings last year in Baden-Württemberg, according to the Ministry of Justice in Stuttgart. Knives were the most common find, with a staggering 1,631, along with 500 other sharp objects, over 250 tools, and nearly 300 sprays.

But it's not just your everyday pocket knife findin' its way through. Some downright peculiar items have surfaced too. Spokespeople from the Stuttgart Higher Regional Court mentioned a 25-centimeter foldin' saw, a pepper spray gun, and a key-shaped foldin' knife. Over at the Tübingen Regional Court, they found a dildo and a bottle.

The number of findings is climbin', nearly quintupled in the last four years. In 2021, there were only 169 findings, but in 2024, they were already clockin' 870. Guess it's a new trend for potential court-goers.

Banned items are confiscated, but dangerous ones are saved for the duration of the court stay. And if you think you can bring weapons prohibited under the Weapons Act or suspected of any offense under weapons law, think again. The cops will be called, and you'll likely be slapped with a criminal complaint.

But it's not just knives and strange sex toys that make headlines. There have been discussions and debates about other unusual items, like protective shields, self-made armor, police, and military equipment. German legislation has been scrutinized for penalizing their possession, and some argue this infringes on the freedom of assembly.

So now you know, courthouses aren't just about legal arguments and old wooden podiums. Be prepared for anything - from knives and dildos to protective shields and self-made armor!

ECcountries could benefit from discussions on the increasing instances of prohibited items in courthouses, such as the recent trend in Germany. The European Commission could consider implementing stricter regulations on vocational training programs focusing on security and courthouse etiquette, ensuring general-news coverage and reducing crime-and-justice issues.
