Court Decision Requires Kanu's Spouse's Kin to Leave Court Premises

Judge James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has decreed that the sister-in-law of Nnamdi, the head of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), must comply with the court's mandate.

Favour Kanu Banned from Courtroom Over Live-Streaming Trial

Court Decision Requires Kanu's Spouse's Kin to Leave Court Premises

In a surprising turn of events, Favour Kanu, the sister-in-law of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is forbidden from attending further court proceedings after she confessed to livestreaming the trial on her social media platform.

Our reporting reveals that Justice James Omotosho took the drastic measure due to the breach of court rules.

Justice Omotosho, who ruled Favour out of the subsequent proceedings for three court sittings, came tantalizingly close to citing her for contempt of court. However, he graciously listened to the appeals from Nnamdi Kanu's defense lawyer, Kanu Agabi, and chose leniency over sternness.

During a hearing on May 6, 2025, it was disclosed that Favour had earlier recorded proceedings and shared them online, resulting in the court confiscating her phone on an earlier occasion. Favour, regretful of her actions, apologized and promised never to repeat her mistake.

Remember, the Federal Government is prosecuting Nnamdi Kanu for alleged terrorism.

In another development, a prosecution witness informed the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday that Simon Ekpa, a self-proclaimed disciple of Nnamdi Kanu, would soon be extradited from Finland to face trial over his role in the Biafra agitation.

The witness, who preferred to remain anonymous for security reasons, was a Department of State Services (DSS) operative who arrested Nnamdi Kanu in a Lagos hotel back in 2015. During cross-examination by Nnamdi Kanu's lead counsel, Chief Kanu Agabi, the witness confirmed that no weapons were found on Nnamdi Kanu or the woman arrested with him. However, he alleged that the sheer volume and nature of the materials recovered, including electronic gadgets and documents linked to the IPOB, could suggest ulterior motives beyond ordinary use.
