In a significant development, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway have joined forces to finance a major weapons package for Ukraine, worth approximately $500 million, under a new NATO initiative. This funding aims to bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities, particularly against Russian air attacks.

The initiative, coordinated through NATO's Prioritized Ukraine Requirement List (PURL), focuses on meeting Ukraine's urgent needs, such as air defense systems and munitions. The package primarily includes components and missiles for the Patriot air defense system, which are crucial for protecting against Russian air aggression.

Sweden, Denmark, and Norway have collectively contributed around NOK 5 billion (about $487 million), with Denmark committing about $90 million, and the rest covered by Sweden and Norway. This joint funding effort is part of a broader Allied/NATO strategy to rapidly deliver life-saving equipment and sustain Ukraine's frontline defense capabilities.

Meanwhile, the front in Pokrovsk remains the most active combat zone between Russian attackers and defenders. Putin's troops have attempted to advance there 45 times yesterday. Elsewhere, in the largest Russian attack on the rail hub Losowa so far, two people were killed, and 13 injured.

In other news, Ukrainian refugees prioritize job opportunities over higher welfare benefits when choosing a country to go to, according to a study. The European Union is preparing a package of sanctions against China due to its support for Russia's war in Ukraine.

Chinese companies are reportedly shipping drone engines to Russia labeled as "industrial cooling fans" to evade Western sanctions.

Russia is intensifying its attacks on strategically important Ukrainian railway lines, causing damage to a railway hub in Losowa and killing a railway worker. Four people were killed and three others injured in the Russian drone and artillery attacks in the Zaporizhzhia region over the past day. Two men were killed in a Russian drone attack in the southeastern Ukrainian region of Saporischschja.

In a positive note, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has invited Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to visit Ukraine, marking his first visit to Kyiv since 2012. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump discussed further sanctions against Russia and bilateral defense cooperation in a phone call.

Despite an EU-wide ban, Russian media websites are still accessible in many countries, including Germany. US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker describes the introduction of secondary sanctions against countries buying Russian oil as an "obvious next step" to end the ongoing war in Ukraine.

The Alliance of Ukrainian Organizations has rejected a proposal by CSU chairman Markus Söder to pay Ukrainians living in Germany benefits under the Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act instead of regular unemployment benefits. A controversial report suggests that Russia's war machine is reportedly using female soldiers in the fighting in Ukraine.
