Countdown to Liberty: The Freedom Clock Updated Daily

In the vibrant political landscape of the United States, Robert Charles, a seasoned veteran with a rich background, has announced his candidacy for Maine's next Governor. With a career spanning over 25 years as a businessman, a ten-year naval intelligence officer (USNR), and a Maine attorney, Charles brings a wealth of experience to the table.

Charles, who has served as a former Assistant Secretary of State under Colin Powell and a White House staffer for Reagan and Bush 41, is a staunch advocate for the American way of life. He believes that America is a country that celebrates liberty, equality of opportunity, and limited government, and its prosperity is attributed to keeping these principles at the forefront.

In his view, America is a magnet for the world, offering the ability to speak freely, worship freely, own guns, and remain safe in one's home. However, he warns that the forces working to take away these individual rights are ever-present and should be taken seriously. The defense of individual freedoms, he emphasises, is an ongoing responsibility for everyone.

Charles has penned three books, including "Narcotics and Terrorism" (2003), "Eagles and Evergreens" (2018), and "Cherish America: Stories of Courage, Character, and Kindness" (2024), reflecting his deep-rooted commitment to preserving American values.

In the context of US politics, the phrase "They are coming" is often used as a warning or rallying cry, signifying that a particular group or ideology is advancing or gaining influence. It is commonly associated with concerns about immigration, political opponents, or ideological shifts, but there is no single fixed meaning or specific countries universally tied to the phrase.

Charles is the National Spokesman for an unspecified organisation and has been a vocal critic of competitive ideologies that do not want America to prevail. He highlights the dangers of communism (like China and Venezuela), fascism (like Syria), and Islamism (like Iran), which do not respect individual rights and view freedom as a trade-off between the individual and the government.

He also cautions against anti-liberty ideologies, such as communism (often disguised as socialism), fascism (presented as mandatory groupthink), and theocracy (replacing secular laws with religious ones, like Islamic Sharia law), which should be watched out for, even within the US.

In his campaign, Charles emphasises that freedom is not just something to be defended overseas, but also at home. He reminds us that the Founders intended and expected for these liberties to be preserved against overreaching leaders, whether federal, state, or local. The freedom clock metaphor places freedom at high noon, representing a constitutional republic, with no freedom at the bottom.

In a poignant reminder, Charles recently paid tribute to Charlie Kirk, a devout and dedicated defender of freedom, who was recently murdered. Kirk's tragic death underscores the importance of standing up for our values and the ongoing responsibility we all have to defend our freedoms.

As the race for Maine's Governor heats up, Robert Charles's commitment to preserving individual rights and freedoms makes him a strong contender. His candidacy promises a fierce defence of the American way of life, a commitment to limited government, and a vigilance against ideologies that threaten our liberties.
