Triumphant End to EURO U21 Competition for Team U21 - Countdown to European Championships: Under-21 Team Secures Convincing Win

Germany's young guns have struck a decisive opening blow in their preparations for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship, crushing RB Leipzig's U-19 squad 8-0 in a pre-match warm-up. The thrilling encounter took place in the tranquil confines of Blankenhain during a training camp convened by coach Antonio Di Salvo. Eric Martel, Paul Nebel, Max Rosenfelder, Brajan Gruda, Nicolò Tresoldi, Ansgar Knauff, and Nelson Weiper were the goalscoring heroes in this goal-fest.

"First and foremost, I'm thrilled that no one suffered any injuries," Di Salvo declared after the match. "Today's game was a solid performance. We sharpened many sequences, which we effectively translated into goals. From set-pieces, winning loose balls in the press, and counterattacks, we notched goals off various avenues. Overall, I'm pleased."

The U-21 side will continue fine-tuning their game plan in the Weimar region until June 4, in anticipation of the tournament kicking off in Slovakia on June 11. The tournament will run until the 28th. Having been defeated in the group stage in 2023, the DFB selection aspires to reach the final this time around. In Group D, they will clash with Slovenia (June 12), Czech Republic (June 15), and England (June 18). The top two teams from each group advance to the quarterfinals.

Behind closed doors, the team will rehearse for the main event in a friendly against Finland, who have also earned their spot in the tournament. The match will be staged at the DFB campus in Frankfurt am Main on June 4. Before the curtain rises, Di Salvo must submit his official 23-man squad to UEFA the previous day.

Stuttgart's F.C. World Cup winner Finn Jeltsch had to depart the training camp due to an inflammation in his right thigh, while his fellow Stuttgart player Nick Woltemade is expected to join the U-21 squad following the completion of the Nations League.
