ICC Women's World Cup 2025 Set to Light Up India

The cricket world is abuzz with excitement as India prepares to host the ICC Women's World Cup 2025. The tournament, scheduled from September 30 to November 2, 2025, will see some of the best women's cricket teams battle it out across several host cities.

The main Indian host cities confirmed for the tournament are Bengaluru, Indore, and Guwahati. Matches will also be played in Colombo, Sri Lanka, as part of a co-hosting arrangement. The final will take place either at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium or Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium.

The tournament marks the return of a senior ICC Women's tournament to the sub-continent since 2016. India has previously staged the Women's World Cup in 1978, 1997, and 2013.

India will kick off the tournament with a match against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru. Other notable group matches will also take place in Bengaluru, Indore, and Guwahati. Warm-up matches, including India vs England, are scheduled in Bengaluru before the tournament start.

Notable attendees at the event marking 50 days until the tournament included Mithali Raj, Yuvraj Singh, Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, and Jemimah Rodrigues. Jay Shah, the ICC chairman, inaugurated the event and also launched the ICC Trophy Tour, which will travel to all host cities of the tournament and Delhi.

Jay Shah took to social media to celebrate the occasion, expressing his excitement for the celebration of women's cricket ahead of the World Cup. The ICC Women's World Cup 2025 is not the first major cricket event India is hosting this year.

In a bid to make the tournament accessible to a wider audience, the BCCI and ICC are partnering with stakeholders to give select schools the chance to attend matches of the World Cup.

However, there has been some discussion regarding venue choices and concerns about home advantage for India, especially with Chennai and some other venues under scrutiny. Thiruvananthapuram might also be a host depending on arrangements.

As the countdown to the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 begins, fans across the globe are eagerly waiting to witness the thrilling matches and cheer for their favourite teams.

Sports enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the news about the upcoming ICC Women's World Cup 2025, as the tournament's diverse schedule includes travel to several host cities, such as Bengaluru, Indore, Guwahati, and even Colombo, Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, there's been an ongoing discussion about opinions regarding venue choices, with concerns raised about potential home advantage for India and the possibility of Thiruvananthapuram joining the list of hosts.
