Gulf Cooperation Council Condemns Israeli Aggression Against Qatar

The Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held an extraordinary meeting on Monday in Doha to discuss the implications of Israeli occupation aggression on Qatar.

The topic of discussion at the meeting was the Israeli occupation aggression on Qatar, which the council strongly condemned. The GCC leaders affirmed that the aggression poses a direct threat to joint Gulf security and regional peace and stability.

The meeting resulted in the adoption of a final statement by the GCC, which expressed full solidarity with Qatar in all measures to confront this aggression. The leaders thanked brotherly Arab and Islamic nations, and friendly nations in the international community, which condemned the Israeli occupation aggression and declared solidarity with Qatar.

The countries and groups that have expressed solidarity with Qatar include the United Nations, the Arab Cooperation Council Gulf States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Arab Group, the European Union, the African Group, South Africa (on behalf of 78 countries), 86 countries and 12 NGOs in national declarations, the Arab League, Turkey, Palestine, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom. These entities denounced the Israeli attack on Qatar’s territory as a violation of sovereignty and international law.

The GCC leaders have directed the GCC Joint Defense Council to hold an urgent meeting in Doha to assess the defense situation of the member states and the threat sources in light of the Israeli occupation aggression against Qatar. They also directed the Unified Military Command to take necessary executive measures to activate joint defense mechanisms and Gulf Deterrence capabilities.

The council commended the efforts made by Qatar's security and defense authorities in handling the incident and safeguarding the safety of citizens and residents.

The Supreme Council called upon nations of the world to condemn the Israeli occupation aggression against Qatar and its crimes of genocide in the Gaza Strip, including displacing and starving the population, disrupting humanitarian aid, killing journalists, essential workers, and humanitarian crews. The council also stressed the need to adhere to United Nations principles, international treaties, and agreements, respect for the sovereignty of states, non-interference in their internal affairs, resolving disputes by peaceful means, and refraining from the use or threat of force.

The Supreme Council of the GCC further called on the Security Council, the international community, and influential states to assume their responsibilities and take firm and deterrent measures to stop Israeli occupation violations.

The meeting was an extraordinary meeting of the GCC, which was held on Monday in Doha. The location of the meeting was specifically chosen to show solidarity with Qatar in the face of Israeli aggression.
