The 17th Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) of Lapu-Lapu City has undergone a significant reorganisation, with a focus on committee chairmanships. Most incumbents have retained their positions, while a few key changes have been made.

Councilor Rufo Bering has been appointed as the chairman of the Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change Adaptations, replacing Councilor Celestino Aying. Bering has also succeeded Vice Mayor Celedonio Sitoy as chair of the Committee on Ethics, Good Government, Transparency and Accountability.

Councilor Celestino Aying, on the other hand, has retained his chairmanship of the Committees on Labor and Employment, and Urban Poor and Cultural Minorities.

Joergen Eyas-Book, Climaco Tatoy Jr., Emilio Galaroza Jr., and Joseph Pangatungan continue to lead the Accreditation and Gender Equality and Development, Abattoir, Markets and Consumer Protection, Anti-Drug Abuse and Drug Trafficking, Health and Hospital Services, and Cooperatives and Livelihood committees, respectively.

Ariane Neil Marie Yap maintains her roles as the chair of the Business and Industry, Energy and Power, and Children, Women and Family committees. Marciano Alforque Jr. has been appointed as the chairman of the Disaster Risk and Reduction Management committee.

Annabeth Cuizon has been appointed as the chairman of the Finance and Appropriations committee, and the Social Services, Senior Citizens, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) committee. Linda Susan Baring has been appointed as the chairman of the Human Resources Development committee, and the Laws and Human Rights committee.

The former Transportation and Communication committee has been divided. Pangatungan now heads Traffic and Transportation, while Yap leads Information and Communication Technology.

Sangguniang Kabataan president Orlan Joseph Carungay continues as the chairman of the Youth and Development committee. Notably, Tourism now stands as a separate committee.

The restructuring appears to emphasise continuity with strategic leadership adjustments, particularly emphasising environmental and governance issues under Councilor Bering's new chairmanships. The committee reshuffling reflects a focus on reorganisation rather than the creation of new committees.

  1. Councilor Rufo Bering's new roles encompass the chairmanship of both the Committee on Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change Adaptations, and the Committee on Ethics, Good Government, Transparency, and Accountability.
  2. Councilor Celestino Aying continues to oversee the Committees on Labor and Employment, Urban Poor and Cultural Minorities, while retaining his previous roles.
  3. Joergen Eyas-Book, Climaco Tatoy Jr., Emilio Galaroza Jr., and Joseph Pangatungan maintain their leadership positions over the Accreditation and Gender Equality and Development, Abattoir, Markets and Consumer Protection, Anti-Drug Abuse and Drug Trafficking, Health and Hospital Services, and Cooperatives and Livelihood committees, respectively.
  4. Ariane Neil Marie Yap and Marciano Alforque Jr. hold the positions of chair for the Business and Industry, Energy and Power, Children, Women and Family, and Disaster Risk and Reduction Management committees, respectively.
  5. The former Transportation and Communication committee has undergone a division, with Pangatungan now overseeing Traffic and Transportation, and Yap leading Information and Communication Technology. The restructuring suggests an emphasis on environmental and governance issues, while prioritizing continuity through strategic leadership adjustments.
