Could the up-and-coming star, hailing from Bayside, be the next big Fortune winner, poised to dethrone the QEII with his breakthrough work, known as Cicero's Gift?
Cicero's Gift Aims for Stake Casino Victory
Cicero's Gift, a five-year-old horse trained by Charlie Hills, has been in top form throughout the season and is now set to compete in the prestigious Stake Casino on British Champions Day. The horse recently won the Listed Sporting Times Sri Lanka Fortune Stakes at Sandown, securing a significant shortening of odds for the upcoming race.
In the Sporting Times Sri Lanka Fortune Stakes, Cicero's Gift finished as the 6-4 favourite, with Jason Watson in the saddle. The horse was not beaten far by Dancing Gemini in a race at the Stake Casino's venue earlier in the season, indicating a strong showing at the upcoming event.
However, Cicero's Gift will face stiff competition from the colt Accredit, owned by Juddmonte and sired by Dubawi. Accredit won the mile maiden race impressively, with a margin of three lengths, and Robert Havlin, the colt's rider, suggests that Accredit could compete at Listed level at a mile.
Another contender for the Stake Casino is the filly Esna, trained by Brian Meehan. Esna won the 7f novice race by a margin of length and a quarter. Charlie Bishop, Esna's rider, considers the filly an exciting prospect for her connections and believes she will rise to a similar level.
Trainer Charlie Hills prefers soft ground for Cicero's Gait in the Stake Casino, and the horse's owners have been patiently waiting for this race all season. The jockey who will ride Cicero's Gift at the Stake Casino has not been disclosed yet.
Interestingly, horses who won the Sporting Times Sri Lanka Fortune Stakes have gone on to win the Stake Casino in 2019 and 2022. Cicero's Gift's victory in the Fortune Stakes has certainly raised expectations for the Stake Casino.
Esna is a filly by Starman, and her win in the 7f novice race has made her an exciting prospect for the future. Bishop believes Esna will be better as a three-year-old, and the filly's performance in the Stake Casino will be closely watched.
Accredit, with a pedigree that includes a half-sister to dual Arc winner Enable, is another strong contender for the Stake Casino. The colt's impressive win in the mile maiden race has made it clear that he is a horse to watch in the upcoming race.
The Stake Casino on British Champions Day promises to be an exciting event, with several horses vying for the top spot. Cicero's Gift, Accredit, and Esna are among the favourites, and their performances in the upcoming race will be closely watched by horse racing enthusiasts.
