Could a Batman series be part of the DC Universe's chronicles as well?

The DC Universe (DCU) is gearing up for an exciting new phase, with a variety of projects in the works that promise to bring some of its most iconic characters to the big screen.

In a significant development, a Clayface film has been confirmed for the DCU. This body horror film is set to offer a unique take on the classic villain, promising a chilling and unforgettable experience for fans.

Meanwhile, the DCU's centre of attention has been shifting, with the success of the Superman project serving as a catalyst for change. James Gunn, who has adopted graphic novels for Superman and Supergirl, is now calling this expanded corner the Superman Saga. The first Batman-adjacent project in this saga will be the Clayface film.

The Batman film in the DCU will feature Batman and Robin (Damien Wayne) fighting a threat. James Gunn has also announced a new Batman movie titled "The Brave and the Bold" as part of the DCU Chapter One. However, the Batman lead role (Bruce Wayne) has not yet been cast, and the project seems to be progressing slowly.

Batman, with his vast array of villains, also offers plenty of potential for separate series in the Batman universe. Characters such as Ra's al Ghul, Scarecrow, and the Court of Owls could all receive the same treatment as Deathstroke and Bane, who are also set to star in their own film.

On the other hand, there is a strong argument for giving Batman a strong but lesser presence in the DCU. This approach could help avoid confusion among the general audience and ensure that each project stands out in its own right.

The DCU is not forgetting about Nightwing either. Despite years in developmental hell, a Nightwing-led story is still in the works.

As for the animated realm, an animated Dynamic Duo movie featuring Dick Grayson and Jason Todd is in the works, adding another exciting project to the DCU's diverse stories.

The DCU's future looks bright and hopeful, with its varied projects promising to offer something for everyone. The new Superman film is highly anticipated by fans and audiences alike, and James Gunn has plans to expand the Superman corner of the universe with another project.

With the DCU starting strong with a successful Superman project, the stage is set for a thrilling journey through the world of DC Comics. Lessening Batman's appearances in the DCU could help avoid collision with Matt Reeves' Batman, allowing both to shine in their respective spots.

As the DCU continues to expand under James Gunn's leadership, fans can look forward to a bright and exciting future filled with familiar faces and new adventures.
