Coq d'Argent to Relocate as Iconic No 1 Poultry Faces £100M Revamp
Coq d'Argent, the well-known French restaurant, will move to a new rooftop location in early 2027. The current venue, perched atop No 1 Poultry near Bank, must close due to a major £100 million refurbishment of the building. A specific address for the new site has yet to be revealed. The restaurant has operated from its current spot since 1998, earning a steady reputation for classic French dishes. Steak tartare, escargots, and fresh seafood remain staples on its menu. The interior, originally designed by founder Sir Terence Conran, has long been a draw for City workers seeking a dependable lunch.
No 1 Poultry itself is a Grade II listed postmodern landmark, designed by Sir James Stirling. The upcoming redevelopment, funded by South Korean investor IGIS Asset Management, will transform the building. As a result, Coq d'Argent must find a new home within the square mile.
The exact location of the restaurant's next chapter will be announced in due course. For now, diners can expect the same French classics—but from a different rooftop—when doors reopen in early 2027. The move marks the end of an era for Coq d'Argent at No 1 Poultry. The restaurant's new premises will maintain its focus on traditional French cuisine while adapting to a fresh setting. An official announcement on the location is expected before the 2027 relaunch.
