Coordinated offensive now underway towards Ukrainian targets

On the night of July 10-11, 2025, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukrainian military facilities, marking an escalation in its ongoing military campaign against Ukraine. The attack, which involved nearly 600 attack drones and over two dozen cruise missiles, targeted Ukrainian defense industry sites across several regions, including Kharkiv, Sumy, Lviv, and military airfields[1].

The Russian Ministry of Defense described the operation as a "group strike with long-range air-based high-precision weapons and drones" aimed at hitting Ukrainian military-industrial targets. Despite Ukraine's best efforts to defend against the attack, at least two people were killed, and around 20 injured, notably in the southwestern city of Chernivtsi[1].

The attack was reported by several sources, including the Telegram channel "Operation Z: War Correspondents of the Russian Spring", "Military Observer", "Russian Gazette", and Ukrainian media. The cities of Dnipro, Mykolaiv, and Cherkasy were among those that experienced explosions, as reported[1][2].

In a significant development, five Tu-95MS strategic bombers were reported to have taken off and launched missiles, while one Tu-160 strategic bomber and a MiG-31K equipped with hypersonic "Kinzhals" were also spotted taking off[1]. The attack included over 150 "Geran-2" strike drones, with Ukrainian monitoring resources expecting around 500 "Geran-2" kamikaze drones this night[1].

The attack reflects Moscow's ongoing efforts to pressure Ukraine amid its larger strategic goals. Russia appears focused on seizing and consolidating control in eastern regions such as Donetsk and expanding buffer zones in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. However, Ukrainian intelligence assesses that Russia is unlikely to accomplish its objective of fully capturing Donetsk Oblast by the end of 2025, as the campaign faces significant operational challenges and high casualties[2].

This marks a concerning escalation in the conflict, and the international community is urged to take notice and work towards de-escalating the situation in eastern Ukraine.

The attack, involving strategic bombers and drones, is a part of Russia's ongoing efforts in the war-and-conflicts zone, demonstrating a significant escalation in their politics with Ukraine. General news sources report that the attack has resulted in casualties and widespread explosions across multiple cities, raising concerns for the international community.
