Coolmore Debuts an Intriguing New Horse at Gowran, While Top Trainer Identifies Top Pick Among Ten Contenders at Chester
News Article: Cesarewitch Trial Contenders Take Shape
As the Cesarewitch Trial approaches, several horses are emerging as potential contenders for the prestigious race.
Trainer Henry de Bromhead's Chutzpal, a recent winner at Killarney, is one such horse. The gelding could prove to be a formidable competitor in the trial, setting his sights on the Cesarewitch later this season.
Another notable contender is Belgravian, a three-year-old trained by Andrew Balding. Currently among the market leaders for the Cesarewitch, Belgravian has won his last three starts and is scheduled to compete in the trial at 3.55. Adding a few pounds with another penalty for winning the Cesarewitch Trial would increase Belgravian's chances of getting a run in the big handicap.
Sheradann, a Racing League winner, could pose a significant threat in the Cesarewitch Trial. The horse, trained by Henry de Bromhead, has been in excellent form recently and could challenge for the top spot.
Reverend Hubert, trained by Charles Byrnes, finished eighth in last year's Cesarewitch and could be a factor in this year's trial. The gelding will be aiming to improve on that performance and secure a place in the big handicap.
Meanwhile, in other races, Vape, trained by John and Rhys Flint, is set to compete in a 6f handicap at Wolverhampton at 8.30. Despite going winless in ten runs at Wolverhampton, Vape has been in excellent form recently, winning twice and finishing runner-up twice since last month.
Charlie Appleby, the Godolphin trainer, has a strong record in two-year-old non-handicaps at Newmarket, with a 67% win rate this year. One of his debutantes, Romantic Symphony, is set to compete in the mile novice at 1.00.
In the 1m11⁄2f handicap at 7.30, Richard Price, the trainer, saddles Lhebayeb. Price has a 40% win rate in three-year-old-plus handicaps at Wolverhampton this year and will be hoping for another success with Lhebayeb.
Unfortunately, the hurdler who was supposed to run for Henry de Bromhead in the 2-mile Maiden Hurdles race is not specified at this time.
As the racing season continues, these contenders and more will battle it out for victory in the Cesarewitch Trial and a chance to compete in the big handicap later this year.
