Cooling Trend Ahead: Temperature Dips Beginning from Monday, Reaching as Low as 30 Degrees Over the Weekend

The upcoming week is set to bring a significant shift in weather patterns, with a cold front moving in from the west set to bring a drop in temperature from Sunday evening.

Starting from Tuesday, the lowlands can expect variable to very cloudy skies with widespread showers and occasional thunderstorms in the morning. However, the afternoon temperatures are expected to hover around the 20-degree mark.

Meanwhile, the Alps are in for a unique weather event. The temperatures at mid-altitude in the Alps could set absolute record values for September, as mild Alpine air, brought by föhn winds, keeps the highest temperatures mild during the day. Unfortunately, this respite will be short-lived, as rain and thunderstorms are expected to develop in the evening, with exact highest temperature values varying across locations.

Roger Perret, a renowned meteorologist, predicts that the summer will be over next week, but the föhn valleys may see a brief comeback of milder temperatures.

Despite the cold front, Monday will still see temperatures of 18 to 20 degrees in the lowlands, accompanied by heavy rain in some areas. The Alps will continue to be often cloudy, with some showers expected throughout the day.

However, the silver lining is that the Alps will continue to enjoy the best mountain weather and ideal conditions for an autumn hike. So, if you're planning a trip to the mountains, this could be the perfect time!
