Elsie, a dedicated director of nursing at Fairmont Crossing Health Rehabilitation Center, went missing in June 2023, leaving her family and friends in disbelief. According to reports, the last communication between Elsie and her daughter, Sativa Rucker, was a text message about a recipe on June 25, 2023.

Fred Wiggington, Jr., Elsie's husband, reported his wife missing to the police on June 26, 2023. However, investigations led to a grim discovery. In August 2024, human remains were found buried beneath a concrete slab on the couple's shared property, which were later identified as Elsie's.

Fred Wiggington, Jr. was charged with concealment of a body, first-degree murder, and concealment of a firearm. On July 30, 2025, he was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his wife.

Patricia Wiggington, who moved into the couple's home the same weekend Elsie was killed, was arrested and charged with one count of accessory after the fact and one count of obstructing justice in January 2025. A fellow inmate claimed Wiggington confessed to killing Elsie during a 2024 video interview, but no further details have been made public.
