Controversy Surrounds Labour Party Post-Peter Obi's Presidential Nomination - According to Faduri

In a bold move, former Labor Party (LP) presidential aspirant, Faduri Oluwadare Joseph, has taken a dig at the party over its current internal strife. He likened the situation to poetic justice and karmic retribution.

In a scathing statement, Faduri accused the party's leadership of orchestrating his betrayal during the 2022 primaries, which led to the loss of his presidential ticket. The ticket, he claimed, was handed to the then-Anambra governor, Peter Obi.

The turmoil in the Labor Party, Faduri argued, was a direct consequence of the injustice, treachery, and deceit meted out to him and his team during the 2022 primaries. He attributed the party's ongoing struggles to its self-serving and transactional leadership.

Faduri traced his political journey back to the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), another dormant party at the time, which he revived. With the party's newfound potential, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso approached him. However, Faduri alleged that corruption and greed took over, leading to the party's sale to Kwankwaso.

His interactions with Peter Obi in 2022 left Faduri disillusioned, contrary to the messianic figure many believed him to be.

Despite the ongoing crisis, Faduri confirmed his loyalty to the Labor Party and his intentions to contest for the presidency again in 2027. However, he hasn't decided on the platform he'll run on.

The Labor Party's troubles are not unheard of. Past controversies include accusations of clinging to power, challenges to the former national chairmanship of Julius Abure, and allegations of expropriating polling unit results during the 2023 elections, among others.

As the Labor Party navigates this tumultuous period, the need for transparency and fairness in candidate selection, reconciliation, and accountability can't be overstated. The party's capacity to address these internal issues and effect meaningful change will be a critical determinant of its future role in Nigerian politics.
